CONCEPT EVALUATION • PRIVATE PREVIEW

Review Beat the Machine

Beat the Machine is a proposed recurring monthly ES trading competition in which up to 200 human traders compete for a $10,000 prize pool paid to the top three — guaranteed once a competition is confirmed — measured every day against The Machine — a transparent automated benchmark. Spectators can follow along and play a free prediction game. This interactive prototype is being shared to gather feedback before production development.

CONCEPT PREVIEW — NOT A LIVE OFFERING
Competition dates, sponsors, prizes, rules, entry requirements and third-party integrations shown here are proposed and subject to change. No entries or sponsorship agreements are being accepted through this demonstration. All competitor, Machine and viewer data is simulated sample data.

THE BENCHMARK • CS01

The Machine

CS01 is a conservative automated strategy that trades once per day with settings published before the session and locked for the day. Its settings rarely change. When they do, the new settings are announced in advance. The Machine is an exhibition benchmark: it is ranked for comparison but never eligible for any prize.

Why The Machine Is a Tough Benchmark

The Machine takes a small target most days and accepts a stop five times larger. That makes it steady until it isn't. A single stop-out erases about five winning days. The question each month is whether discretionary traders can stay ahead of a rules-locked system after costs. The prize doesn't depend on it, but the bragging rights do.

Machine Competition Record

Production version will display the published settings record beside each verified CS01 result, creating a permanent competition audit trail.
Simulated performance disclosure (draft — final wording subject to compliance review): CS01 results displayed in this competition are generated in a simulated account and are hypothetical. Simulated results have inherent limitations: they do not represent actual trading, and they may not reflect the impact of market factors such as liquidity and slippage. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.

COMPETITION RULES SUMMARY • ADMINISTERED BY EIGHT PERCENT AI

Beat the Machine Competition Rules

This page summarizes the trading framework. The complete legal terms — eligibility, data coverage, scoring, prizes, taxes, disclosures and dispute terms — are in the Official Rules, which control if anything here differs. The Official Rules are a draft pending attorney review.

1. ES OnlyAll competition trading is limited to E-mini S&P 500 futures (ES).
2. $50,000 Simulated Competition EquityEach competitor is ranked from the same standardized $50,000 simulated starting equity. No competitor trades their own capital.
3. RTH Session OnlyCompetition trading is permitted from 8:30 AM through 3:00 PM Central Time (CT) on eligible trading days.
4. Flat by 3:00 PM CTNo overnight positions are permitted. Competitors are responsible for closing all positions by 3:00 PM CT.
5. Maximum Position: 10 ESA competitor may not exceed an aggregate open position of 10 ES contracts at any time.
6. Humans May Trade Multiple TimesCompetitors may take multiple trades during the session. CS01 remains the one-trade-per-day benchmark.
7. Daily Loss Limit Follows CS01CS01's published stop loss per contract × 10 sets that session's maximum human daily loss.
8. Risk Breach = Daily DQExceeding the published daily loss limit disqualifies that competitor for that session, not automatically for the entire competition.
9. Standardized CommissionsBeat the Machine applies the same commission to every trade: $5.00 per contract round turn. Commission settings inside NinjaTrader are ignored. Ranking is based on verified net P/L.
10. Verified FillsAfter each session closes, Beat the Machine verifies every reported fill against that session's ES tick data from its own NinjaTrader instance, and P/L is recalculated from verified fills only. Live standings during the session are provisional until end-of-day verification. Limit orders count as filled only when price trades through the limit by at least one tick. A limit fill NinjaTrader reports on a touch is excluded from scoring, so competition results can differ from the NinjaTrader account.
11. Top Three Humans Paid — Every MonthThe $10,000 prize pool is paid to the three eligible human competitors with the highest verified net P/L: 1st $6,000, 2nd $2,500, 3rd $1,500 — whether or not any human finishes ahead of The Machine.
12. The Machine Is Not Prize-EligibleCS01 is an exhibition benchmark. It is ranked for comparison only and can never win, share or reduce any prize.
13. Guaranteed Prize for Confirmed CompetitionsA competition is confirmed when a sponsor commitment covering the prize pool is in place by registration close. For every confirmed competition, the full $10,000 prize pool is guaranteed regardless of the number of entries. If a competition is not confirmed, it does not run, and registered competitors are notified and offered priority for the next competition.
14. TiesIf eligible competitors tie for a paid place, the prizes for the places they occupy are combined and divided equally among them.
15. Minimum Participation: 5 Qualifying SessionsTo be prize-eligible, a competitor must complete at least 5 qualifying sessions, the same number of sessions The Machine needs to reach its monthly goal range. A qualifying session is a session with at least one completed ES trade whose exit is at least 4 ticks (1.00 point) from its entry, win or loss. Trades smaller than 4 ticks still count toward P/L but do not qualify a session.
16. EligibilityOpen to legal residents of the 50 U.S. states and D.C., 18 or older. Employees, contractors and agents of Eight Percent AI and of any sponsor, and their households, are not eligible. Eight Percent AI clients are eligible, and being a client gives no advantage. Void where prohibited.
17. Manual Trading OnlyEvery competition trade must be placed by the competitor. Automated trading strategies, bots, copy-trading and signal-automation tools are not permitted on the competition account. Standard order-management tools such as bracket or ATM stop/target orders are allowed.
18. Free Entry — No Purchase NecessaryThere is no entry fee. No purchase is required to enter or win, including any Eight Percent AI product, license or service, and nothing purchased improves a competitor's chances. Competitors pay no entry fee, rebuy or reset fee. Live ES market data for the full competition month is provided at no cost through the Data Sponsor. If no Data Sponsor is confirmed, Eight Percent AI reimburses every entrant who pays a data fee for the competition month, however they finish.

Technology & Connection Responsibility

Each competitor is responsible for maintaining NinjaTrader, the registered competition account, live CME market data for ES, Internet or VPS connectivity, and the Beat the Machine competition connector in an operational state. The competitor remains responsible for monitoring and managing all open positions and for closing positions by the required time. A trader-side computer, Internet, NinjaTrader, data-feed, VPS or script interruption does not automatically extend the competition, reverse a trade, or excuse a rule violation. Beat the Machine adjudicates all disconnects and reporting gaps, and its decision is final.

Hosting: A Windows VPS may be used to reduce dependence on a home computer or Internet connection. VPS use is optional and does not transfer responsibility for the competitor's trading technology to Beat the Machine. Any recommended hosting partners will be identified once agreements are in place.

Competition Data & Public Display

By entering, competitors authorize collection and processing of competition-related NinjaTrader information needed to verify trading activity, calculate results and enforce the rules. Public competition pages may display a competitor's chosen display name, rank, positions and trade activity, competition P/L, commissions and competition statistics. Execution prices shown publicly are delayed. The live public leaderboard shows the top 50; every competitor's rank remains searchable, and the full final standings are published on the competition's permanent archive page. Sensitive credentials and private account identifiers are not displayed.

Disputes, Integrity & Standard Terms

Any scoring or competition dispute must be submitted within 24 hours after the official end of the competition. Beat the Machine may review connector, NinjaTrader and competition-server records when investigating a timely dispute or suspected rule violation. Tampering with, modifying or bypassing required competition reporting, running unreported trading sessions for a registered entry, falsifying information or manipulating competition records may result in disqualification.

Competitors remain responsible for their own trading decisions and position management. No uninterrupted availability of NinjaTrader, CME market data, Internet/VPS services, third-party services, or the competition website/connector is guaranteed. Prize, tax, privacy, eligibility and jurisdiction terms will be incorporated into the final Official Rules before registration opens.

NinjaTrader Desktop and simulated trading are free to use. New simulator users receive a trial of live streaming market data. After the trial, simulated trading can continue, but Beat the Machine requires live CME market data for ES. Delayed market data is not eligible for competition trading.

Live data for the full competition month
The free live-data trial is shorter than a 30-day competition. Proposed: a Data Sponsor covers each entrant's live ES data for the competition month, so no competitor pays for data to finish the event. Because entry is free, Beat the Machine does not want any required purchase standing between a trader and the competition. How Results Are Verified

NO GAMING THE LEADERBOARD

You trade NinjaTrader on a sim account with the BTM script running. The script reports your activity; Beat the Machine verifies it against tick data after the close and decides your official results. Nothing in your local NinjaTrader settings can change your score.

Server-Calculated CommissionsA standardized commission is applied to every fill by the competition server. NinjaTrader commission templates are ignored.
End-of-Day Tick VerificationAfter the market closes, Beat the Machine checks every fill against the session's ES tick data, recorded on its own NinjaTrader instance. A fill at a price that didn't trade at that time is rejected.
P/L Rebuilt From FillsResults are recalculated from validated fills. Sim account balances are never used for scoring.
Continuous ReportingThe BTM script must run on your NinjaTrader sim account from session open with regular heartbeats. Disconnects are your responsibility; gaps are logged and adjudicated by Beat the Machine.
Manipulation DetectionThe BTM script flags automated strategies running on the account, Market Replay or Simulated Data Feed connections, account resets, balance changes not explained by fills, positions over 10 contracts and out-of-session trades.
One-Tick-Through Limit FillsLimit orders count only when price trades through the limit by one tick, removing the simulator's fill-on-touch advantage. A touch fill NinjaTrader shows is excluded from your score.
Official standings: live leaderboard figures are provisional during the session. Official daily standings are posted after end-of-day tick verification.

Installation Instructions

ABOUT 5 MINUTES

Install once per computer. Repeat steps 5–8 at the start of each competition. Have your competition key ready — it is shown on your Confirm Entry page and in your entry email.

  1. Download the script. Click Download BTM Script above and save BTM_Connector_v1.0.0.zip somewhere easy to find, such as Downloads. Do not unzip it. NinjaTrader imports the .zip file directly.
  2. Update NinjaTrader. Open NinjaTrader 8 and install any pending update (Help → About shows your version). Older versions may fail to import the script.
  3. Import the script. In the NinjaTrader Control Center, go to Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On…, select BTM_Connector_v1.0.0.zip and click Open. Wait for the message that the import was successful, then click OK. If NinjaTrader asks to replace an older BTM version, click Yes.
  4. Restart NinjaTrader. Close and reopen NinjaTrader so the script loads.
  5. Connect live data. In the Control Center, go to Connections and connect your live data connection. Do not use Simulated Data Feed or Playback — the script will not accept them.
  6. Open the BTM script and sign in. Go to New → Beat the Machine. Enter the email you registered with and your competition key, then click Sign In.
  7. Select your registered account. Choose the sim account you registered for this competition from the Account list, then click Start Reporting. The status should change to STREAMING.
  8. Run the connection test. On your Competitor Dashboard, click Test Connection. Every check must show READY before you trade.
Every Competition DayOpen NinjaTrader → connect live data → open the BTM window and confirm STREAMING before 8:30 AM CT → trade → leave it running until you are flat after your last trade.
UpdatingWhen a new version is posted, download it and repeat steps 3–4. The new version replaces the old one. Outdated versions are rejected by the server.
Import Failed?Make sure the file is still a .zip (not unzipped), NinjaTrader is up to date, and no NinjaScript Editor window has compile errors. Then try again.
Won't Connect?Allow NinjaTrader through Windows Firewall or your antivirus, check your Internet connection, and confirm you are signed in with the right email and key.
UninstallingIn the Control Center, go to Tools → Remove NinjaScript Assembly, select BTM_Connector and click Remove.
Need Help?Email [support email] with your display name and a screenshot of the BTM window.

HOW SPONSORSHIP WORKS

Sponsor one event. Keep the credit permanently.

Beat the Machine Q&A

This page explains the proposed competition for prospective traders, sponsors and viewers. The concept remains in development and details may change after participant, sponsor, technical and legal review.

DEMO / CONCEPT PREVIEW
No competition entries or payments are being accepted through this demonstration. Beat the Machine does not offer wagering. Competitor, Machine and viewer data shown is simulated sample data.

For Traders

PARTICIPATION
What is Beat the Machine?A proposed monthly ES trading competition where up to 200 traders compete for a $10,000 prize pool paid to the top three (guaranteed for every confirmed competition), benchmarked against CS01 — The Machine — under a common framework.
Do I have to beat The Machine to win?No. The top three eligible humans are paid every month ($6,000 / $2,500 / $1,500), wherever The Machine finishes. Beating it earns the bragging rights.
How much does it cost to enter?Nothing. Entry is free, no purchase is necessary to enter or win, and there are no rebuys or reset fees. The prize is funded by sponsors.
Is the prize guaranteed?Yes, for every confirmed competition. A competition is confirmed when a sponsor commitment covering the prize pool is in place by registration close; from then on the full $10,000 prize pool is paid regardless of how many seats are filled. If a competition is not confirmed, it does not run.
Do I have to pay for live market data?Live CME data for ES is required for the full month. No. A Data Sponsor covers every competitor's live data for the competition month. If no Data Sponsor is confirmed, Eight Percent AI reimburses every entrant who pays a data fee for that month, however they finish.
How many traders can enter?Up to 200 per monthly competition. The live leaderboard shows the top 50, you can always search for your own rank, and full final standings are published in the archive.
Do I trade real money? No. Competitors trade a simulated NinjaTrader account with standardized $50,000 competition equity, using live ES market data.
What and when can I trade?ES only, up to 10 contracts open, 8:30 AM–3:00 PM CT, flat by 3:00 PM. Multiple trades per day are allowed.
How are commissions handled? The competition server applies the same standardized commission to every trade. Your NinjaTrader commission settings don't affect your score.
How do you stop people from gaming the sim?Every fill is verified against the session's tick data after the close, limit orders count only when price trades one tick through, P/L is rebuilt from validated fills, and the connector flags playback connections, account resets and other manipulation.
What happens if I exceed the daily loss limit?A breach is a Daily DQ for that session, not disqualification from the entire month. The limit is tied to The Machine's published stop.
Is there a minimum number of trading days?Yes: 5 qualifying sessions to be prize-eligible. A qualifying session is a session with at least one completed ES trade whose exit is at least 4 ticks (1.00 point) from its entry, win or loss. Token trades under 4 ticks don't qualify a session.
Do I need to buy anything from Eight Percent AI?No. No Eight Percent AI product, license or service is required to enter or win.
Who can enter?Legal U.S. residents 18 or older, excluding employees, contractors and agents of Eight Percent AI and its sponsors, and their households. Eight Percent AI clients are welcome. Void where prohibited.
Can I use an automated strategy? No. Competition trading is manual only. Bots, automated strategies and copy-trading are not allowed; bracket/ATM stop and target orders are fine.
What if my computer or connection fails?Disconnects are the competitor's responsibility, including open positions. Beat the Machine adjudicates any disconnect or reporting gap. A VPS is optional and recommended.

The Machine & Competition

FORMAT
What is The Machine?CS01, a conservative automated strategy used as the competition benchmark. It trades once per day with a small target and a larger stop.
Why can't The Machine win the prize? It's an exhibition benchmark. It's ranked so everyone can see how the humans compare, but it can never win, share or reduce any prize.
Does The Machine get special treatment? No. Its start time, target and stop are published before its trade and locked for the session. Its settings rarely change, and changes are announced in advance.
Are The Machine's results real trading? No. CS01's competition results are simulated, like every competitor's, and are shown with a simulated-performance disclosure.
Is a W-9 required?Yes, before a cash prize is paid. Tax information never appears on public profiles.
Can results be reviewed later?Yes. Completed competitions are archived with the final leaderboard, winner, Machine result and verified statistics.

For Viewers

PLAY ALONG
How do I play along?Sign up free, make three quick picks each trading day before 8:30 AM CT, plus weekly and month-long picks. Points are scored automatically.
Does it cost anything?Never. Play Along is free, and nothing you buy improves your chances.
What can I win?Sponsor-provided prizes each month for the top predictors. Specific prizes will be announced once sponsors are confirmed.
Can I bet on the competition? No. Beat the Machine does not offer or facilitate wagering. Play Along is a free prediction game.

For Sponsors

PARTNERSHIPS
Are the sponsors shown real? No. All sponsor positions in the prototype are open placeholders.
What sponsorships are envisioned?Presenting, Grand Prize, Live Leaderboard, Play Along prizes, technology/VPS, hardware, financial media, analytics/tools and supporting sponsors.
Can a sponsor fund the $10,000 prize?Yes. A sponsor commitment covering the prize pool is what confirms each competition. Once confirmed, Beat the Machine guarantees the payout to the top three.
How is sponsorship sold?Per 30-day event, with multi-event packages available. Each event is credited to its sponsors by name.
What happens to my credit after the event? It stays. Every finished competition keeps a permanent archive page with final results, the recap video and its sponsors' credit.
Can a sponsor control competition results? No. Sponsorship provides no control over rules, rankings, The Machine, verified results or dispute decisions.

Demo & Development Status

IMPORTANT
Is Beat the Machine live now?No. This is a concept prototype used to gather feedback.
Can I register now?No. Registration buttons are demonstrations only.
Are the dates and rules final? No. Dates, identifiers and rules demonstrate the proposed structure and remain subject to technical testing and legal review.
When will the first competition begin? No launch date is final. Feedback and required technical and legal work will determine the schedule.
